Singapore: Optic Fibre broadband

19 June 2009 1 views No Comment

Traditional copper wire based internet connection has reached its limit. At 10Mbps maximum it is not able to cope up with demands on speed we are expecting.

Singapore

Information Developrment Authority(IDA) of Singapore has long been planning for all home home to be internet connected via fibre-optic cables. A super high speed internet connection.

Singapore will lead the world in the first to start on a nation wide fibre optic installtion. Opennet has won the bid and will be starting installtion soon and it will last through to 2012. Isnt that cool or what.

Click the above image to see the coverage plan for Singapore. Guess my area in the North will be ready in 2012 only. Darn! I wish it is earlier.
