Tips: Unable to detect USB drive

8 April 2009 1 views No Comment

Have you come across times where by your thumb drive works perfectly fine on your personal PC but not on others? There are myriad of reason why this happens but one simple solution seems to work best. Rebooting the PC while the USB drive is plugged in works at times, but here is another solution.

I am assuming you are unable to view it from My Computer but able to see it in the Disk Management console.

Solution:

1. Insert the thumb drive, right click on my computer and select manage.

2. Click on disk management and you should see the drive. Usually as a removable drive
In my case it is M drive

3. right click and select change drive letter, set it to any free letter (drive)
