Browser War – IE vs Fox

Internet Explorer 8

There is some browser war going on right now.  As you guys know, Internet Explorer 8 is due to be released soon with a whole sleuth of features. I am hoping it is not some bloatware. Currently it is available as a Release Candidate (RC1), which means it is open for user testing before it is finalised and released.

Foxy

Now, Mozilla is working on a new version of Firefox, promising faster browser with efficient JavaScript engine. Due to the vast changes implemented I hear that it will probably be released as a Firefox 3.5 instead of the originally announced 3.1.

My Thoughts

This war is definitely good for us consumers, bringing with it better features and compatibility. I have been using Firefox and IE simultaneously and prefer Firefox over IE7 anytime. It is definitely fast and and has many plug-ins available making my web browsing experience a breeze. It is just better.

What I am afraid is adding more feature will end up bloating the software which in turn consumes more memory and cause frequent application crashes. Hopefully it is not the case and there is efficient memory management built-in.

This makes me think of going towards Google Chrome. One of the faster browser available and am actually amazed at its page loading speed . It has small memory foot print and the interface is clutter free.  I am too comfortable with Firefox that I prefer it over Chrome.I know, I am a creature of habit.

Will I become a Google Chrome fanboy? Time only will tell.
