HTC Dream – Google phone

24 February 2009 1 views No Comment

htc_dreamI know, I reporting it pretty late. The Google Android based HTC Dream has been finally released in Singapore.

SingTel released it on the 20th of February 2009. It did not receive that much of a ‘hoo-ha’ or advertisement as the iPhone did but it was announced in the news and tech sites.

First Impression

HTC should have come out with a better design. Did their designers have some kind of a brain drain? Do they need to make it look like a ‘geeks’ phone. What is the purpose of the slight bend at the bottom of the phone. My friends and I call it the ‘chin’.

I am a fan of HTC though. They have come out with sleek phones and I am a proud owner of the then Dopod 838Pro and now HTC Touch Diamond. I absoultely love the clean cut and form factor of the Diamond. It absoultely does what ever or almost, what the iPhone can do. I dont have high praises for Windows Mobile OS but it gets the work done.

Functionality

Tested out the functionality two days back and I find the interface pretty good. It has tightly integrated Google’s services to the phone which is a plus. I pretty much use all the Google services and tight integration to mobile phone is absolutely a boon.

I dont want to regurgitate what other sites have said but the above is my opinion. I waiting in hope that HTC or other manufacturers will release Goole Android based phone in a better form factor that I see today. HTC Magic looks promising.

So will they come out with one in the Diamond or Diamond Pro form factor?
