You can't certain avoid command line. You may try your best . Try to be friend with the command line , you'll need it. However these days ubuntu makes it possible to do everything (almost everything via the GUI) , which makes new comers such as yourself easier to adapt to the linux environment

Wishing you all the best !

Oh by the way , you might want to get gravatar for your wordpress. Just sign up for one and you could use your picture/etc as your avatar :P

Hi Prasys,
Thanks for your encouraging comment.

I am trying out Ubuntu now and will post up 7 separate articles. I have used Linux b4 but have not put too much thought into it. Now is the time to make a move.

My aim is to proof using Linux and transitioning to it is easy. For command line based stuff, I am trying to avoid in this series. But I think it cannot be avoided in certain cases.

Do look out for my next one soon.

Thanks again

Yes , I am using Linux. I do hope you write up a good article on how to really do up your linux. It would be nice to see

As for compatibility issue , you'll learn later on how powerful it can be. My advice is , don't be afraid of using the command line (Terminal).

You'll get the hang of it. Trust me , its way better then Windows. I do have Linux on my old Pentium III , my routers (yes) and not to mention my playstation 2. Thats the beauty of Linux

I might give it a shot later on my fujitsu u1010 with ubuntu mobile/netbook edition !
