Tech Toy – National Geographic Gift

31 December 2008 1 views 2 Comments

Just received my new Tech Toy from National Geographic. Huh! Tech Toy from National Geog??

Few weeks back I extended my subscription to NatGeo Magazine. I was offered a NatGeo Camera as Gift. It came in a pathetic box that I am ashamed to show it here.

What more can I say about the camera. A cheapo, probably China made camera with NatGeo logo on the front. It says on its leaflet as 300K Pixels Digital Camera. Wow! With the Megapixel count hitting through the roof, what is 300K?

Lomography here I come…

National Geographic, I am dissappointed. You should have just given a mug with the logo and I would have been happy!

Specs (if any)

  • 300k Pixel
  • LCD to display options only
  • 2 Buttons  – 1 Shutter, 1 Option
  • 3 x AAA Battery
  • Driver CD
    - Arcsoft Photo Impression 5
    - Arcsoft Video Impression 2
    - PcCam

I think there is no necessity to ask for sample phot or quality 300k – read 300k Pixels NOT 300k MP!!

Well its just a gift and I will keep it as a souvenir or maybe just use it as a second webcam.

I wanted to give it to my kid so I bought the batteries and tried it.
Then I threw it away – the quality is too bad. I am sorry that I didn’t send it back – they should take care and recycle their own trash.
Cameras on 5 year old phones are much better.

    Hi Matej,
It is a piece of crap. Quality of photos are just bad. I really wander why NatGeo has to give this crap as a gift for their magazine. Probably they got an offer from some company getting rid of their old useless crap and Natgeo stamped their logo and sent it to us.

I am just keeping it as a souvenir. Infact it is back in the package it came in.

    Thanks for visiting my blog!
